BK SciViz is a Seattle-based scientific visualization lab led by chemical engineering PhD, Brad Krajina. We combine deep scientific knowledge with design principles to translate complex technical ideas into engaging visual stories. Leadership
Brad Krajina, PhD
I am a chemical engineer, cancer biologist, and information designer. My scientific research career has been driven by a vision to build bridges between disciplines. During my PhD at Stanford and my postdoc at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, I collaborated with clinicians, engineers, and biologists to build new platforms that combined engineering with biology to enable discoveries in cancer. As an interdisciplinary scientist, I constantly faced the challenge of explaining my work to others: to collaborators, to business development partners, and to funding agencies. And I observed how much other scientists and engineers struggled to do the same. This drove me to develop a visually-focused strategy for communicating science to a broad audience. Experience taught me that it doesn't matter how good your ideas are if you can't explain them to others. My goal at BK SciViz is to bring the same spirit of innovation to science communication that all scientists strive to bring to scientific research.
